We tested L'Éveil du goût in Rousset - Our opinion

Very famous for its «good food», the restaurant called L’Éveil du goût is often full. It has happened several times that my students cannot eat there because of the lack of places. So feel free to book at the beginning of your immersion at home or your stay in Provence. The restaurant is located in the village square of Rousset. It is possible to have lunch indoors or outdoors depending on the seasons. In summer, you can book a table near the fountain. I love fountains! There is also the possibility to take a menu that I find of a good quality/price ratio.

L'Éveil du Goût à Rousset - Angela’s immersion in Provence

My husband and I had dinner at L'Éveil du goût on Thursday night in Rousset. It’s a very cute restaurant in the town of Rousset. We arrived on time for our reservation at 7:30pm, but we were the first guests. The restaurant was not ready to open. The waitress sat us down at a table and handed us the menu.

The menu de l'Éveil du Goût à Rousset - Immersion en Provence d'Angela

The fixed price menu consists of a starter, a dish and a dessert costs only 38 euros. My husband ordered a bottle of white wine from Provence. At 8 pm, the waitress was ready to take our order. I ordered the starter with asparagus (there was only one), the veal and the chocolate dessert. My husband took the foie gras, the artichoke risotto and the strawberry dessert. The service was slow, but there was only one waitress for 6 tables on two levels.

Our opinion of the Éveil du Goût à Rousset - Immersion en Provence d'Angela

The food was very good. We shared every dish. The starters were excellent. My favorite starter was the foie gras. It was accompanied by a fig jam.

Asparagus was also good but it is difficult to compete with foie gras. The veal was tender and perfectly seasoned. The vegetables served with the dish were the best I have eaten in a long time.

My husband really liked the risotto. There were small pieces of artichokes mixed with the risotto. The chocolate dessert was much better than the strawberry dessert. There was chocolate ganache, dark chocolate ice cream and salted butterscotch on the plate with a chocolate tile. That was great!

The strawberries were good. They didn’t need to be covered with orange blossom-scented whipped cream, which I think might spoil the taste a bit.

We left the restaurant very happy and satisfied. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant.
